Double bassist, DJ, and multidisciplinary artist, Joe Rehmer’s selections travel through jazz, lounge, experimental rock, and avant-groove.
Born in Chicago, he began playing guitar at the age of 12, later moving on to electric bass and double bass. In 2002 he relocated to Miami, where he became involved in its vibrant underground scene. Since 2011 he has been based in Italy, where he works across multiple musical contexts, from contemporary jazz (Hobby Horse, Drive!) to alt-folk (Espada).
His solo project, Melma_Mire, uses field recordings and samples through loops of handmade cassette tapes, combined with electric bass.
