The multidisciplinary lab of FF26 will focus on the project WRECKREATION, involving the artists Akïi, Billy Barry and Nunzia Picciallo on Sat, 4th July at Spoletosfera.

The word “Wreck” means to destroy and evokes both physical and mental damage as well as the idea of a wreck, something worn out or destroyed. The word “Recreation” recalls leisure, fun, recreation, or free time after a period of productivity and work.
The project embodies the tension between how we manage and use ourselves physically and mentally in work time, free time and all the time. A cycle of wrecking to wreck, wrecking to rest, resting to wreck.
The artistic practice of Akïi is rooted in the realm of sound and its fragments, exploring the intersections between electronic music, piano, and voice. Alongside their musical practice, Akïi has contributed to several sound installations, including projects presented at the 2025 Venice Biennale and Biennale Son in collaboration with Soundwalk Collective.
Billy Barry joined the Batsheva Ensemble in 2011 and the Batsheva Dance Company in 2012. In 2022, he was appointed Assistant Rehearsal Director of the Batsheva Dance Company, while continuing to perform as a dancer until leaving the company in 2024. In 2025, he served as assistant choreographer to Imre and Marne van Opstal for FKA Twigs’ Eusexua tour.
Nunzia Picciallo investigates the power structures that shape corporeality and subjectivity, activating the body as a political device for analysis, deconstruction, and transformation. With a transdisciplinary approach, her work moves across performance, dance, visual arts, and sound, generating a critical perspective that goes beyond representation.
